Classes and Curriculum

A lively mix of daily activities exposes participants to multiple dimensions of Argentine tango music. A typical day includes sessions in instrumental techniques, chamber music, and large ensemble.  Additional classes in arranging, tango dance, and other events enable participants to follow a curriculum that best suits their needs.

A typical day looks like this.

9:00am – 10:15am:
Practice Time and Individual Lessons

Learn techniques and idioms unique to Argentine tango performance on your instrument with our Resident Ensemble. Each student will receive one individual class during the week. The rest of the time is used for practice or assignments from arranging class.

10:30am – 12:00pm:
Chamber Music and Coachings

This year, each of the groups will be accompanied by one of our resident ensemble instructors full time. In addition to that, each ensemble will receive a coaching from Julián Peralta and play in the masterclass for the other faculty to comment.

12:15pm – 1:45pm:
Lunch Break / Tango Talks

Get to know your ensemble colleagues and other festival participants over lunch. We will also plan on getting together on some of the days for our Lunch Talk Series. More information coming soon!

4:00pm – 5:30pm:
