Daniel Stein is a Grammy-Award nominated violinist, pedagogue and music producer comfortable with both classical and popular musical genres. As a Tango artist, he has shared the stage with Grammy-Award winners such as Pablo Aslan, Hector del Curto, Raul Jaurena and Pablo Ziegler as well as Tony-Award winning dancers Fernanda Gui and Guillermo Merlo.
Stein has taught and coached chamber music at Indiana University (Latin American Popular Music Ensemble, Violin Virtuosi) , University of Notre Dame and in international music festivals and universities in Brazil including the Festival Internacional de Piracicaba, masterclasses at Instituto Fukuda and Instituto Bacarelli. He has been a faculty member of the IU Summer String Academy since 2013.
He has served as producer for concerts, events and recordings at the Indiana University’s Latin American Music Center as well as for other projects and musicians through Daniel Stein Projects since 2009. Stein’s recordings include Tango and Klezmer as well as Baroque and 21stC. music. His appears in CD credits as both artist and producer in US, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina for NAXOS, Aqua Records (Argentina), Tempus Records (Mexico), IU/LAMC and many others.
He currently works at the University of Notre Dame as Music Production Consultant working with both students and faculty to put projects together. Stein holds a M.M. and D.M. from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he worked with Nelli Shkolnikova and Stanley Ritchie.
